Josephine Gardiner Sheftall notebook, 1871-1876.

This collection contains essays, poetry, newspaper clippings, and letters written by Josephine Gardiner Sheftall primarily while a student of the girls' division of Savannah High School between 1871 and 1873. The first essay is a description of the school building known as Chatham Academy. The last essay, dated February 12, 1876, was added after her graduation. A photocopy of the notebook is filed with the original.
